Our Together Table

There are nine million lonely people in the UK and four million of them are older people. Many older people find constant loneliness hardest to overcome. They lack the friendship and support we all need. Almost half of UK adults say that their busy lives stop them from connecting with other people.

What is our Together Table?

We can all feel lonely from time to time. Feeling lonely can have severe impact on our mental health and vice versa. Therefore we have decided to make a small gesture, within our power, to try to help.

Our Together Table.

Every Sunday lunchtime we will be reserving a table, providing a meal and company for those that are in need. There will be no charge for this meal as we do not want financial circumstances to be a reason that people are unable to attend.

How can you get involved?

We have a number of ways you can support our scheme.

1.

Nominate someone you know that may benefit from a seat at the table. You don’t need to know all their details or let them know about your nomination, but we do need an address or phone number to get in touch with them.

We can contact you about a donation

2.

Donate a meal. Whilst we don’t mind providing the meal any support would be greatly appreciated.

For a minimum donation of £5 per meal we will provide a card to give to the recipient of this meal. It’s up to you how much information you put in the card to allow the person to get in touch in the future.

Call, email or pop in to speak to Emma to arrange the donation.

3.

Work with us. If you or someone you know volunteer or are employed in a capacity that could help this program, please get in touch.

This could be working for an organisation that visits lonely people (subject to any necessary safeguarding authorisations), a local councillor or even a transport provider willing to donate time to get people to and from The Harrow.
