The Harrow Inn
The Harrow Inn is one of the oldest pubs in the Swindon area, with parts dating back to before 1740 when it was known as the Harrow and Kings Head. Originally built as a coaching inn on the Roman road to London it still operates as an inn today.
We’ve worked hard to develop a food menu that shows off the amazing local, high welfare produce that we have chosen. Our kitchen team create fresh dishes, with the occasional twist, but always a wow factor. We are also proud to stock the largest and most eclectic selection of gin and whiskey in the area, along with some other funky finds and a wine list built to impress.
We are trying extremely hard to consider our impact on the environment and the ethical way in which the products we use are treated and supplied. We have been extremely lucky to have found partners such as Ritual Coffee Roasters, who think seriously about the effort and impact of trade on their growers and what they can do to reduce waste in the supply chain, whilst still producing awesome products.
In the grounds of the inn the old forge has been sensitively converted to three lettings rooms, one of which is accessible with a full wet room. Each of the three rooms allows flexibility of a family, double or twin room and follows a special theme.
With children and animals and living at the inn, it isn’t surprising to find out The Harrow is dog and family friendly. We also have a small play park in the Secret Garden!!
The Extra Bits
Watch this space (or follow us on Social Media) to find out about all the exciting extras we’ll be putting your way through the year. From music and gin festivals, guided tasting and pairing evenings and summer feasts at the BBQ. If you think there is more that can be done, please pop in and let us know over a coffee.
The inn retains many of its original features with beautiful thatched roof, two bars and three open fireplaces. The inn has a lively public bar to the front and a full service restaurant to the rear with outside seating in the beer garden and front patio.
The New Harrow
After taking over the inn at the start of 2020, Emma (who grew up locally) is determined to return The Harrow to its former glory as a true community asset. Plans are in hand to develop significant local events, possibly a community shop and much more.
And We Care
As a business, we support Mens Mental Health Swindon and The Stroke Association and run our own Together Table during Sunday lunch. This is to increase awareness, tackle loneliness and get men talking about the subject of mental health.
We are trying to do our bit for the environment as well, aiming to be plastic free, reduce our carbon footprint, providing storage and washing facilities for bikes and soon, electric vehicle charging.
